Welcome to my website.
I've enjoyed doing many crafts over the years and I thought it would be a good idea to put them all together on the computer. As I look through the photos there are many, many memories ... lots of good ones, a few frustrating ones and many funny ones!! Maybe my kids will enjoy the photos and also remember some of those funny times ... like the time I turned a 12" x 18" sheet cake out of the pan and it sailed across the kitchen and right into the door of the refrigerator. What a mess!
Of all the crafts I have done, my absolute favorite one is cross stitch. That is why I chose the name of my website to be ... idratherbestitching! It's a hobby that takes some patience because some of the larger projects take 2 to 3 years to complete. I listen to audio books as I work and that passes the time. And, finally, when the cross stitch picture is all done it's very rewarding to see it framed and hung on the wall. So, come on in and look around. I hope you enjoy the photos.
I started doing cross stitch a few years ago when I got a cross stitch kit for my birthday. I was instantly hooked and over time I moved on to bigger and more complicated pictures. This project, Portrait of the Daughter by Rembrandt Peale, will take about 18 months to complete.
I've decorated many, many cakes over the years for family and friends, both fancy and unusual. If you enjoy cake decorating, check out the "cake page".
You'll find some papier mache items ... many santas and even a mouse family that resides in a peanut shell.
There's some drawings ... pen & ink, pencil and some colored pencils. There's also a few paintings on sweatshirts.
After I got tired of decorating cakes (10 years and 2,400 cakes later!), I began making quilts both big and small.
And, for several years I worked in the computer graphics field designing cover art for audio lecture series, t-shirts, etc.
And finally, I've included some photos of a few dolls and figures ... some out of Sculpey and some of papier mache.
That's about it! Hope you enjoy the pictures.
